Welcome to the magical world of history and beauty! Kopice Palace
Welcome to a magical world of history and beauty! Kopice Palace, with its rich past and extraordinary landscapes, is a place that goes straight to the heart of anyone who visits.
The building, exuding classicist beauty, is not only a monument of the 19th century, but also a testament to the love of Count Hans Ulrich von Schaffgotsch and his wife Joanna Gryzik von Schomberg-Godulla.
Joanna’s story, a true tale of courage, love and determination, adds even more magic to this already so remarkable place.
Coming from a poor family, Joanna found herself in the care of Emilia Lukas, Karol Godula’s housekeeper. It was there, surrounded by wealth and splendor, that the legend of the “Silesian Cinderella” was born.
Thanks to her association with Karol Godula, Joanna was endowed with a powerful estate. Her fate took an even more unexpected turn when, at the age of 16, she fell in love with Count Hans Schaffgotsch.
For an appropriate sum, she was granted a title of nobility by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, and soon after, the young couple married and settled in Kopice, where they began their life together.
Over the years, the palace hosted a variety of events, from dances to New Year’s Eve balls and even youth camps and colonies. Today, although it has gone through turbulent times, there is still a struggle to restore and preserve it for future generations.
We invite you to discover the secrets of this remarkable place and support efforts to restore it to its former glory!
