The city of Šumperk – Little Vienna

The first mention of the city’s foundation dates back to 1281. Thanks to metal mining, the city developed rapidly, and in 1562 it received a number of rights and privileges that almost put it on a par with royal cities.

During the Industrial Revolution, Šumperk became a magnet for wealthy Viennese merchants and entrepreneurs who established textile factories in the suburbs and built magnificent palaces in the city itself. The Viennese-inspired architecture gave the city a unique charm and the nickname “Little Vienna”.

When visiting this city, you will discover a rich history, beautiful architecture and a unique atmosphere!
