Palace in Ziemiełowice – a gem of late 19th-century architecture

The palace in Ziemiełowice, built in the late 19th century on the initiative of Rudolph von Methner, the owner of the surrounding lands, forests and distilleries, is a unique monument whose architecture combines neo-Renaissance and baroque elements. The two-storey building, built on a rectangular plan, is distinguished by a picturesque octagonal tower with a characteristic onion-shaped dome. The interiors have been preserved in the neo-Baroque and classicist style, and are also decorated with Art Nouveau stucco.

After 1945, the palace was transferred to the state treasury – it housed a school and a unit of the Voluntary Labor Corps. Currently, it is private property, but the park, together with the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, is available to visitors.
