Oppersdorff Castle in Głogówek – a witness to history
Located on a slope above the Osobłoga River valley, Oppersdorff Castle is an exceptional example of defensive and residential architecture. Its history dates back to the times of Prince Władysław Opolski, and in the 16th century it was rebuilt by the Oppersdorff family in the Mannerist and Baroque styles.
The castle was visited by King John Casimir during the Swedish Deluge, as well as Ludwig van Beethoven, fleeing from Napoleon’s troops.
Although the castle is currently not open to visitors, its fascinating history can be learned at the Regional Museum in Głogówek.
